Getting Started
Whether you’re growing cannabis, herbs, or vegetables, it all starts with healthy seeds and a proper setup. Beginners often overlook simple details, but mastering these basics can turn you into a pro in no time.
1. Germination
Start by soaking your seeds in water for 12–24 hours until they sink. Then place them between moist paper towels inside a dark, warm spot (around 75°F / 24°C). Within a few days, tiny white roots will appear — that’s your sign they’re ready for planting.
2. Choosing the Right Medium
For beginners, soil is the easiest growing medium. Use a light, airy mix with perlite or coco fiber to keep oxygen flowing. Avoid heavy soils that trap water, as this can drown your roots.
3. Watering and Light
Water just enough to keep the soil moist, not soaked. Overwatering is a beginner’s biggest mistake. As for light, cannabis loves plenty of it — at least 18 hours a day during the vegetative stage. You can use LED grow lights for efficient and cool lighting.
4. Patience Pays Off
Don’t rush your grow. Healthy roots mean healthy plants. Keep your environment consistent — steady temperature, humidity, and clean air — and your plants will reward you with strong, vibrant growth.
Pro Tip
Always label your plants. When you start experimenting with different strains, knowing what’s what will save you headaches later.
Happy growing! Every harvest teaches you something new — the key is paying attention to what your plants tell you.
